Topic (1) : Smart solution for energy saving & sustainability proposition – 3M Sun Control Window Film

Different technologies to improve lighting and HVAC control has been widely discussed and adopted more than a decade to achieve energy saving in different kinds of buildings. Sun control window film is another passive technology to reduce energy consumption especially in modern architectures with maximized window façade design. An over 60-years technology has been majorly upgraded and transformed in these 10 years, but the understanding has not been widely discussed and understood. In this seminar, the newest constructions and features of different types of sun control window films will be illustrated. Wither those in mind, properties of a preferred properties on sun control window film such as its band-pass properties, light properties at different frequency bands will be discussed. Operating principles base on window film construction will be elaborated. Selection criteria of sun control film, scientific measurement to assess sun control film performance will also be discussed. Case studies will be used to illustrate the outcome of those selected projects in Hong Kong. In addition to sun energy control, film products add-on with both solar control plus security feature will also be discussed. The introduction can give audience a holistic view of sun control window film development. Hence, realize the decision criteria to justify the adoption of such solution to achieve energy saving and maintain the building sustainability.

Topic (2): 3M Solutions in a development or renovation project for Community wellbeing and be a good neighbor

To align with global megatrend regarding ESG and community wellbeing, 3M has following solutions for developing and renovating projects,

A. 3M Di-Noc Interior & Exterior Decorative Film Solution:

B. Non-PVC & Green Graphic Film Solution:

3M's non-PVC graphic films contribute to environmental sustainability. These films are ideal for branding and decorative purposes. An excellent example is the Kwun Tong Promenade project by HKSAR, where non-PVC films were used to enhance aesthetics and delight the community while minimizing environmental impact.

C. Bird-Friendly Graphic Film Solution:

To prevent bird collisions with glass, 3M offers custom bird-friendly graphic films. These films feature patterns that birds can see, reducing the risk of collisions. Notable projects include MTR Mei Foo station and Tin Sui Wai swimming pool next to wetland park & Mai Po Nature Reserve in HK.

D. Safety Window Film:

In areas prone to typhoons and windstorms, 3M safety window films provide added protection to mitigates hazards from shattered glass during natural disasters. They enhance safety for occupants & community, and minimize property damage.
