Course Background:
In this sharing session, two senior architects from Macau will share the evolution of buildings and the design direction of high-rise residential buildings.
Through 20 years of experience in residential design in Macau, the speaker will use real cases of 11 completed residential buildings, including private, social, and economic housing, to let the audiences understand the evolution of residential design in Macau. The speakers will also share some of her design experiences with the audiences.
Macau has a long history of architecture, among which the cultural exchange between China and the West in architectural design first appeared. It can be said that since the 16th century, Portuguese were allowed to live and build in Macau. It marks the transition and development of Chinese-style architecture and Western-style architectural culture. Because of Macao's status in foreign trade and unique special zone, the architecture fully reflects the integration of Chinese and Western architectural culture. With the return of Macao to the motherland in 1999 and the opening of gambling rights in early 2000, a large number of international architects have been introduced to design a series of novel buildings. Macao has attracted a "hundred flowers blooming" in architectural design for more than ten years. In addition to new design techniques and elements, new technologies and construction methods have also been introduced, providing good learning opportunities for local professionals. We can narrow down the types of buildings and try to discuss the design direction of high-rise residential buildings in modern Macau.
