Course Background:

The Development and Construction of the Monte Fort and Surrounding Urban Areas

The Monte fort that used to be the "Acropolis" of Macau, and its nearby Jesuit facilities, including St. Paul's Seminary, the Church of the Mother of God (the archway of St. Paul's), and Cilin Wai, this former city fringe area has grown with the city. It has developed into an important cultural tourism core area in Macau today.

This CPD includes explanations and inspections, allowing architects to understand the development history of the area, as well as some important architectural design projects (including the renovation of historical sites), its culture and value.

Ar. Lui Chak Keong , (French) cultural heritage architect, Dr. of design, not only engaged in architectural design practice, but also taught in many colleges and universities, master tutor, research direction: Macao city and architecture, cultural heritage protection. He has participated in a number of government policy and planning research on urban, cultural heritage and tourism development, regularly published architectural research articles in periodicals, and published books: "Macao Illustrations", "Beyond Memory", "Macao Street Market" (co-author).
