Topic summary/brief description

As Macao's building regulations, fire safety regulations, and entry procedures have been supplemented and changed in recent years, the Architects Association of Macau (AAM) hopes to use this course to help students to deepen their understanding of the regulations and comply with relevant regulations during the architectural design process, laws and regulations to ensure compliance with architectural design and enhance awareness of professional ethics.

Topic 1. Introduction to Building Regulations (5 hours)

- Common building regulations definitions and purposes

- The impact of common planning conditions on architectural design

Topic 2. Building Access Procedure (2 hours)

- Concepts and procedures for building planning regulations

- Requirements for building plan application

- The process of building plan review and approval

Topic 3. Fire Safety Regulations (4 hours)

- A brief introduction to the more common fire protection regulations in building design

- Impact of fire safety regulations on space planning

Topic 4. Compliance and Enforcement of Building Regulations (1 hour)

- Responsibilities and obligations of architects

- Professional ethics of architects

- Execution of building inspections and supervision

The course content will further deepen students' understanding of building regulations and the development of their application capabilities through multiple case studies, practical examples and interactive discussions.

The entire course consists of 4 classes, each class is of 3 hours, total12 hours.

Date: 4th and 11th May, 1st and 8th June, 2024 (Saturday 10:00-13:00)

1. A certificate of completion will be issued for participants who must have an attendance rate of 80%. CPD certificate will take up to 2 months to process.
